This book doesn't fail to deliver on its promise to solve a variety of kitchen queries and conundrums for a variety of cooks. The advice herein, culled from the "Quick Tips" section of Cook's Illustrated magazine, is arranged alphabetically and well illustrated, which makes it easy for readers to solve a particular problem. There is also an index for those who don't wish to browse through all the entries on cookies, for example, but who would like the tip on organizing cookie decorations. One of the most appealing factors is that of convenience: a reader who remembers seeing a particular tip in the magazine about onion storage will be able to locate the tip easily without having to remember in which issue it appeared. The combined effect of the illustrations, index, and alphabetical arrangement by subject results in an excellent addition to public libraries. Shelley Brown, New Westminster P.L., B.C.
